"... well, and what about Doctor Who?"

I was using google to search for one of my lecturers, called Dr. Hose, on the LMU website.
And, to my amusement, was asked: "Did you mean Dr. House ?"
No, dear Google, Dr. House doesn't teach at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität currently...

You get 5 additional meters for just 10 cents!

Since this week I'm studying again. Really and officially. And for now, it's neither as confusing nor as traumatizing as last time. Actually it's quite fun.
I'm still not sure about one of my lecturers. She could be a really nice person, but in some things she reminds me of a former teacher, who was in her behaviour eerily similar to Umbridge (from the Harry Potter books).
Today we had a guided tour through the institute library, and I think I'm going to revise my opinion on libraries. Though I've always loved to read, I almost never went to libraries. Even in school I only borrowed book if I absolutely had to. I have this desire to *own* the books I read. To put them on a shelf afterwards, to read the titles in passing, to take one in my hands from time to time, to smell the paper, to reread them just because I glanced at them coincidentally....
Of course it's mostly fiction I buy, so now the concept of having a vast amount of knowledge and secondary literature to browse through sounds somehow appealing, too.
Also, a library is a warm, quiet room that smells of books and dust... <3
What made me smile was that I randomly read the title of a book and it was "lovesickness in the medieval" :)

Afterwards I had a bit of time left until I had to catch my train, and because there weren't enough books today, I went to my favourite bookstore. I browsed trough the books with the reduced prices and found two big, heavy and cheap illustrated books, one japanese woodcuts and one about symbolism.
Hm, so it's art again. Funny how my interest always turns to the things I don't *have* to do. I should be reading and enjoying german literature but buy and enjoy art books. I certainly wouldn't have bought art books when I was studying for my art abitur... And right now I long to paint traditionally again and illustrate some dreams I've had, but I still have to finish some commissions and promises... digitally.

Anyway, when I wanted to pay the books, an aged man stood at the cash desk, shaking his head while reading the headlines of several newspapers.
"Now I finally know," he told the cashier "why one of the papers costs ten cents more than the other."
The cashier looked puzzled.
"Look," the man said, pointing at said newspapers, who both reported of the same incident. One read something like 'man fell 25 meters and survived!' the other 'man alive after fall of 20 meters!'. "For 10 cents you get 5 meters more..."

Why I'm nearly bursting right now...

... because my family seems to think that they must serve all the tasty food at just three days a year.
It started at the 24th in the evening. My Grandma made plaice in onion sauce, a special bavarian potato salad, field salad with walnuts and baguette. Later there was tea with rum, chocolates and, of course, a lot of plätzchen.
On the 25th we "celebrated" our christmas-raclette and the table was full of buffalo-mozzarella, raclette-cheese, fillets from beef, pork and chicken, fresh and pickled vegetables,honey-ham, sauces and bread. In the afternoon there was feuerzangenbowle, mustard eggs, "sandwiches" (there's simply no english word für "belegte Brote"...) with smoked meat at my dad's family.
Today we ate yesterdays leftovers for brunch, had tea and coffee, of course again with rum and plätzchen, with my moms family. The day ended with a big supper where we had different kinds of bread, a lot of smoked trout and salmon, a very delicious alpine cheese, salads, smoked meat, creamed horseradish and fresh vegetables. Now I'm not sure I can ever eat again....

....and yes, dragonfly_el, I'm typing all this just for you and your never ending hunger ;)

When I entered my room this evening I found on my bed:
One chocolate-Nikolaus, three tangerines, one bar of yogurt-strawberry-chocolate (these still would all be usual Nikolaus gifts), one bag of Ricola (swiss candy with herbs), three mini-salami, three babybel (cheese), a glass of pickled cucumbers and herring in jelly.... o.O

I'm shocked. I'm really, really shocked.

I was painting our little garden cabin today. We wanted it to look "swedish", red with white contrasts. I did the white parts, then tried the red. And couldn't believe my eyes. This wasn't the red we wanted. It wasn't even red. It was...MAGENTA! *scream*
I'll have to ask my mom about this (she bought the paint). I just can't believe she wants Barbie's Dream-house in our garden....

My memory, or rather the lack of it, assumes alarming proportions.:
Yesterday I went to my Grandma to help her clean the house and to bring her a pair of socks to repair. The socks were lying on the table, right in front of me. Aside a note telling me to bring them to my Grandma. I even thought: "Now pick up the socks..."....
... went to the door, took the keys and went away. Of course without socks.
My Grandma told me: "It doesn't matter, bring them tomorrow (today), when you go shopping for me."
Today. Socks still on the table. Note too. Hek leaves the house without them, but turns around after she crossed the street, fetches them and places them in her bag. Yay!
Then at my Grandma's I take the shoppinglist and the money ... and go, socks still in my bag, to the supermarket, where I find the socks when I place a zucchini on top of them. Ok, I tell myself, head like a sieve, but I'll give her them after the shopping.

Needless to say, that I just arrived at home after I had brought my Grandma the groceries, unpacked my stuff and, under the zucchini,....found a pair of socks with holes in them.

...

Insomnia, Coffee and Shopping

My body seems to have strange sleeping habits lately.
Last week for example I worked on the "Schlachthauser"-comic and got a bit carried away. I stopped drawing and coloring at half past four in the morning and went to bed. I woke up at half past seven just to discover that it had been snowing (for the first time this year!). I was totally exited but still drowsy and grabbed my digicam to make a photo. Then I went to bed again and slept until half past eleven, missing my lecture (what really didn't matter at all, since I'm not continuing with math...) What was strange: I couldn't remember waking up and photographing the snow until I saw the picture.

Today was even worse. I wanted to go to bed early yesterday, because I planed to visit Shatie, which means I would have to be on the train for nearly three hours (and of course the same time back again). Of course I couldn't sleep for a minute. At about four o'clock in the morning I decided to make strong tea, so I could endure the day awake (somehow). As I was waiting for the train, a weird thought entered my head. I could drink some coffee! (you have to know that I hate coffee and never ever drink it. I had coffee three or four times in my entire life!). Somehow my tired brain figured out it would be a good idea (wtf?!), so I went and got me a small cappuccino.
It tasted absolutely horrible! I will never understand how someone can enjoy such a bitter, disgusting brew...
But I was brave and drank the whole cup. I didn't like the coffee, and the coffee didn't seem to like me, especially my stomach, and tried to come up again. It nearly succeeded.
Next, I learned that my body can't handle caffeine:
I went to the train station again, still feeling sick, but also feeling awake and light and...
When I crossed the street, a man and a dove came towards me. I greeted the dove with a polite nod and completely ignored the man as they passed by. At the train station I realized after a time that I kept moving my head in a jerky way while watching people. Just like a bird. Giggling about my behavior, a fictional conversation between a policeman and me came to my mind. The policeman wouldn't believe me that I didn't take illegal drugs and I tried to convince him with the words: "Nope! No Dope! Muahahahhahah, Coooooooffeeeeee!" Laughing about my own "wittiness" I entered the train.
I had several short strange sleeps on the train, during which I was wide awake.
My ringing cell phone saved me.
When I arrived, my mood was nearly back to normal.

So, what do we learn from this:
Coffee's not good for Hek!

The rest of the day was awesome. We were eating a delicious salad with chicken and shopped until our feet were hurting. I bought two books (one of them is the second Otherland-book by Tad William. I already own it, but only in german. I wanted to read (and own) it in english as well...), a dark green, somehow iridescent dress and a pair of purple/black stripped thighs out of which I made arm warmers ^^ Shatie was trying on really beautiful, really sexy (^^) and really expensive dresses and then bought a similar beautiful, sexy, but less expensive black velvet corsage.
Can't wait until she and Kyubi will come to Konstanz and we will dress up as our VL-characters for carnival.(somehow strange, I know, but fun! ^^)

PS: I didn't, and don't take any drugs. Well, aside from smoking shisha (hookah) from time to time and drinking rarely some alcohol...

Still can't find this battery

I was watching TV the other day, using the remote control as usual, then went to my computer to look something up. When I returned, the remote control didn't work. On closer examination I found out that one of the two batteries was missing. That alone was already strange, because I live alone and didn't even leave the room.
I thought it must have fallen out when I put the remote down, so I searched everywhere, I even took of the bedding and searched inside it. But the battery is still gone.

Shatie told me the Fanged Dustclump must have run out of socks and ate the battery instead.
I hope not.
Dustclump on battery...argh!

P.S. I'm german. I write in english (don't even know exactly why). So if you don't understand a thing it's either of my bad language skills or because I'm talking weird stuff. Or probably both.

Edit: Found the battery! Yeah!
